7 Advantages of Earning a Degree Online - How To Save Money Getting an Online Degree!

Monday, December 28th, 2009
Helen Hecker asked:

If you want to earn a degree online and also want to save money on gas and other expenses you’ll find that thousands of other students have done it and others are doing it successfully. Not only are they saving money but finding it easier to study on their own time and also loving the flexibility.

1. Saving Money! Saving on gas is a major consideration for many who have to drive a long way to school. Not to mention the wear and tear on the car and exposure to the possibility of an accident.

Plus many colleges also charge for parking. Parking passes can cost $250 or more for a semester. If you get a ticket for parking without a pass it can cost $15 or more.

Of course you’ll save money on clothes and shoes and on any items you would need to go back and forth to school every day.

Some students have said they have saved as much as $3000 by registering for courses in an online degree program.

2. Saving time! You’ll be saving time by not transporting yourself to school and back every day. This can add up to hours if you have to go through a lot of traffic.

3. Credibility! There are more online degree programs. There are a growing number of distance learning program offerings and course options now as online degrees are gaining a lot more credibility.

4. More courses! Many well-known community colleges, four-year colleges and universities have added a lot more courses eliminating taking online courses from unknown colleges and universities. Although there are many reputable online degree schools that will help you earn a degree online.

5. Interaction! Students actually can still have a lot of collaboration and interaction with their instructors.

6. Shy? If you’re shy in class about speaking up and are a good writer you may thrive taking online courses.

7. Convenient and flexible! You can study anytime of the day or night fitting it in and around your usual schedule. You can work a full-time or part-time job, run a household, etc.

Distance learning or online degree students may find it a little more challenging because they may have to do more work to show they are keeping up with lessons. There may or may not be more quizzes and some participation in online discussions may be required. So check this out in advance if this is important to you.

So if you want to save money and earn a degree online you can earn an accredited bachelor’s degree, master’s degree or doctorate in any field including business, nursing, education, psychology, criminal justice, and accounting. There are more options now then ever before. Even in the lesser-known areas of nutrition, human resources, construction management or animal behavior there are many programs available. Online degrees are becoming the answer for many students who want to further their education.

Earning an Associate Degree Online Improves Your Chances of Promotion

Saturday, December 26th, 2009
Andy West asked:

One of the most cost effective and productive ways to enhance your chances of promotion in today’s workforce is to pursue an Associate Degree online. Many people don’t realize that an Associate Degree can be the key to demonstrating your value to your current employer or to opening the door to a better opportunity with another company.

In decades past, companies typically required the Bachelor’s degree for employees that were being groomed for higher-level management positions. Today, this attitude has largely fallen by the wayside as companies have come to realize that an Associate’s Degree teaches the same valuable skills and competencies in a more distilled form. Combining an Associate’s Degree with real-life work experience is, in fact, a golden combination that many employers now actively seek.

Employers want to promote the individuals who demonstrate leadership and a drive to succeed in addition to being able to do their job well. Nothing says more about your initiative and dedication than being able to tell your employer that, while working for him or her, you’ve also been attending college classes and have achieved an Associate’s Degree that will make you even more of an asset to the company.

An Associate Degree is Practical for Returning Students

For individuals already in the workforce, there are many advantages to getting an Associate Degree online as well. Let’s face it; if you’re in your thirties and want to obtain a degree to further your career, you aren’t interested in those two extra years of electives and cultural classes that a four-year liberal arts degree can load you down with. An Associate’s program features classes that are tightly focused on what you need and can use.

Cost is always a concern when you’re supporting a family or are out on your own, and an Associate Degree online can be earned in as little as two years, saving you hundreds or thousands of dollars over the cost of a four-year program. Add in the cost of commuting to a traditional college and you’ll save even more.

There’s no getting around the fact that working and going to school will be time-consuming, but when you’re taking your classes online, you’re setting your own hours and deciding when you will be doing the work so that the classes fit your schedule, not the other way around. You can set aside the time you need when it’s right for you and work at your own pace. If you need an extra semester, you can take it and still attain your Associate’s Degree more quickly than most other degrees.

Associate Degrees Online Span Industries

Studying for an Associate’s Degree doesn’t mean settling on a general degree, either. In fact, you can obtain a specialized degree in industries ranging from law enforcement to health care. If you’re working in a job that’s a dead-end, working on one of these degrees can give you the means to change careers completely in just a few short years while you work.

Law enforcement and legal degrees include criminal justice and paralegal studies, or you can study for various healthcare or insurance related careers. Business Associate’s Degrees are even more varied, with options ranging from human resources to accounting.

Whether you’re considering changing your career or you simply want to improve your chances of promotion, getting an Associate Degree online is one of the best steps you can take to jumpstart your future.

Is degrees online as good as degrees you get from colleges?

Wednesday, December 16th, 2009
Miranda asked:

I’m just curious . I see a lot of online school advertisements. I’m just wondering if you go to a job interview , with a degree you got online , if they will take you just as seriously as some one with a degree from a university or something.
Sorry about my grammer error in my question. I was thinking ” is a degree…” and “are degrees…” at the same time and typed it wrong without noticing.

The Flexibility Of A Criminal Justice Degree Online

Saturday, December 12th, 2009
Andy West asked:

For as long as there has been crime, criminal justice has come into play. No other career combines the possibility of high-speed car chases, criminal investigations and courtroom battles to make one fast-paced work environment. The purpose of criminal justice is to maintain order, prevent crime and enforce laws. It entails all aspects of the judicial system, which includes law enforcement, the court system and correctional facilities. With the feasibility of the Internet, it makes it easy for an individual interested in these aspects of the judicial system to receive a criminal justice degree online.

The great thing about receiving a degree in criminal justice is that it can be completed from the comfort of your own home. Many institutions offer a criminal justice degree online that affords students flexibility in learning. Completing a degree online, however, takes discipline and self-motivation. Individuals must have excellent time management and organizational skills to assure they complete all the course work. It is also important for students to have good communications and computer skills. Most of the course work completed in an online program is completed via the Internet, so being comfortable with a computer and having knowledge of the Internet is essential.

Online programs also make it easy for students to keep a full-time or a part-time job while completing course work. Many individuals cannot afford to take a few years off to complete a degree or do not have a college or university close enough that offers a program of interest. This is why a criminal justice degree online is a great alternative to more traditional programs. Because of the time commitment associated with a job, it is important for students to manage their time efficiently. While some individuals may not think online degree programs are for them, an online degree in criminal justice is versatile in that it offers three different programs to suit just about everyone’s need. These programs include an Associates degree, Bachelors degree and a Masters degree in criminal justice.

For those individuals who aspire to further their education after high school, an Associates degree is one option. Receiving a criminal justice degree online can take as little as two years by going through the Associates degree program. This particular degree program offers course work in criminology, security and law. Those who receive their Associates degree in criminal justice move on to a variety of different career fields. These careers include being a police officer, probation officer, courtroom administrator or a police detective among many other fields.

Those who wish to pursue a criminal justice degree online may also be interested in a Bachelors degree program. The Bachelors degree is a four-year program in criminal justice and consists of the same course work in the Associates degree program; however, it also includes classes in investigation, terrorism, administration and a number of other classes. Possible careers for those who obtain Bachelors degrees many include private security officer, Juvenile delinquency case manager and corrections officer. After receiving a Bachelors degree, students can also go on to receive a Masters degree as well.

Receiving a criminal justice degree online is simple and affords students the flexibility of working at home by allowing them to make their own hours. It makes it easy for individuals already in the career field to advance their career by obtaining a degree. It also makes it possible for individuals with families to obtain a degree. A degree in criminal justice also offers a wide variety of career fields upon graduation. So whether an individual wants to investigate crime scenes or arrest criminals, the career possibilities are endless.

What are the best totally ONLINE schools out there for accounting degrees?

Friday, December 11th, 2009
Alison L asked:

I work full time and the nearest college to me is an hour away. I know some companies may feel that online degrees are not as good, but I don’t feel I have a choice. However, I do want to go to a college that is regionally recognized and accredited, one that will transfer over to any other college later on when I go back for my masters. Any suggestions? Thanks
